Infrared Imaging does for the home what a doctor does for you. The doctor probes and tests people to identify one’s physical ills. The Home Inspector does the same thing for your home. The pictures below are pictures taken by the FLIR thermal image camera by an experienced and trained Inspector of typical Northwest homes demonstrating what we can find during an inspection.
Image A: This is an infrared picture of a home electric panel. The white/bright yellow depicts a hot spot on two circuit breakers in the lower right of the panel box.
Image B: This is a picture of an attic from it access showing a dark spot about center right. Upon further examination of the dark spot revealed damp insulation from a poorly flashed roof vent pipe. The insulation was somewhat damp but no damage had occurred to the homes interior. The vent pipe was repaired, the insulation dried. A successful end to a potentially serious and costly repair.
Image C: This is a picture of an interior wall. One can see the two men in bright white. In the wall, between the two men, one can see a black area at the bottom of the wall. That dark area indicates heavy water damage in the lower wall.
Image D: This is a picture of radiant heat tubing under a tile floor.
